Unit One of the Teaching the Bible curriculum begins in the book of Genesis, introducing children to foundational stories like Creation, Adam and Eve, Noah, Abraham and Isaac, and Jacob and Esau.
These Genesis activities for toddlers and preschoolers are designed to bring God’s Word to life through hands-on play, storytelling, and movement. Each lesson helps little ones grasp big truths — that God is great, that He loves them, and that His promises are good.
If you’re looking for a full-year Bible plan for young children, explore this complete collection of toddler and preschool Bible activities that walk through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation.
Lessons Overview
This Genesis unit includes five key lessons: Creation, Adam and Eve, Noah, Abraham and Isaac, and Jacob and Esau.
Each one features Genesis activities for toddlers and preschoolers that bring the Bible to life through play, movement, and hands-on learning. Most lessons include four or more activity options, depending on how many days you plan to spend on each story.
To help little ones hide God’s Word in their hearts, the unit also includes three simple memory verses. Each verse comes with motions and a colorful poster to make learning fun and easy.

Lesson 1: Creation
TThis first lesson is designed to be spread out over one to two weeks, giving families time to enjoy each part. The goal is simple and powerful: to help little ones understand that they are special because God made them.
Children will memorize:
Genesis 1:1 — “In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth.”
This lesson also includes the Creation Book from Teaching with Faith, which helps reinforce each day of Creation. For every day, you’ll find two additional Genesis activities for toddlers and preschoolers that bring the story to life.
Favorite Activities
One of my favorite projects is the moon crater activity from Day 4. Kids create craters using flour and rocks — it’s a wonderfully messy sensory experience! My daughter loved it.
Another fun hands-on idea is making a bird feeder. You can adapt it to what you have on hand: use pine cones for older kids or toilet paper rolls for younger ones. Either way, it’s a great chance to talk about the birds God created.
A perfect way to wrap up the lesson is with a zoo field trip. Visiting the animals God made gives kids a real-world connection to the story of Creation. Check out this zoo homeschool field trip guide with a free sample pack to help you plan a meaningful visit.

Lesson 2: Adam and Eve
In this lesson, toddlers and preschoolers learn about the creation of Adam and Eve and the first sin, as found in Genesis 2 and 3.
The focus is on helping little ones understand that we all have choices — just like Adam and Eve. God wants us to choose to follow Him. When we don’t, we sin, and that can make God sad.
This lesson includes five hands-on Genesis activities for toddlers and preschoolers and is designed to last about three days. Each activity helps children grasp the story in age-appropriate ways.
The memory verse for this lesson is:
Acts 5:29b — “We must obey God rather than men.”

The verse comes with a poster and simple motions to support memorization. It’s also repeated in Lesson 3, giving kids extra time to really learn it.
Favorite Activities
One of my favorite activities in this lesson is Naming the Animals. It invites children to imagine what it was like for Adam to name all the animals. Younger kids can enjoy making up silly names with their caregiver, while older children might write out creative names or invent new worlds. It’s a fantastic way to spark imagination and play while connecting with God’s Word.

Lesson 3: Noah
In this lesson, children learn about Noah’s obedience and how he followed God by building the ark. The goal is to help your child understand that they, too, can choose to follow God — just like Noah did.
This lesson shares the same memory verse as Lesson 2 to reinforce learning over the week:
Acts 5:29b — “We must obey God rather than men.”
It includes four engaging Genesis activities for toddlers and preschoolers, along with motions to help little ones memorize the verse.
Favorite Activities

One of the highlights is a fun and creative ark snack activity. Children get to build their own ark and rainbow using snack items. You can easily adjust the ingredients to fit your child’s dietary needs. For example, swap marshmallows for cauliflower or white cheese, or use nut butter or hummus to help the boat stick together. It’s a playful, hands-on way to retell the story — and enjoy a tasty treat at the same time!

Lesson 4: Abraham and Issac
In this lesson, toddlers and preschoolers learn about Abraham’s journey of faith and God’s promises. Through hands-on Bible activities, they’ll explore four key moments from Genesis: Abram moving to a new land, God’s promise to Abraham, the birth of Isaac, and finding a bride for Isaac.
The goal of this lesson is to help your child understand one big truth — God is BIG!
This lesson is designed to last about three days and pairs well with Lesson 5 if you’re planning a full week of learning.
The memory verse for this lesson is:
Proverbs 3:5 — “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.”
To support memorization, there’s a colorful verse poster and fun motions that make it easier for little ones to remember. This verse will also be used in Lesson 5, giving children more time to soak it in.
Favorite Activities

One of my favorite activities is a Bible-themed game: “Pin the Tail on the Camel.” It’s a fun twist on the classic party game! Since Abraham and Sarah traveled by camel, it’s a great way to connect the activity to the story. Kids of all ages love it — and it works whether you’re playing with one child or a whole group!

Lesson 5: Jacob and Esau
In this final lesson, toddlers and preschoolers will learn about Jacob and Esau, from their birth to the blessing that shaped their future — all through interactive Bible activities.
The main goal of this lesson is to remind children that God is big, no matter what happens.
This lesson is designed to last about two days and pairs well with Lesson 4 (Abraham and Isaac) if you’d like to complete both in one week.
The memory verse remains the same as the previous lesson:
Proverbs 3:5 — “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.”
Repeating the verse helps little ones really take it to heart. Motion prompts and a verse poster are included to support memorization.
Favorite Activities

One of my favorite activities from this lesson is called “What’s in the Bags?” Children reach into different bags and try to guess what’s inside — without looking! This fun, hands-on game helps them understand the differences between Jacob and Esau while also building important skills like sensory awareness, fine motor control, and vocabulary.
You can also extend this activity by having your child find opposite objects around the house or describe their guesses using words or drawings.
