So I have been absent the last few weeks and have missed my weekly homeschool review posts. I meant to catch up but I never did. So here is a short recap of what has happened since we last talked! The week of February 8th, we did school for two days and got ready for my mom to come in. She flew in on February 10th (my birthday) and we had a great visit. She babysat for us for the weekend so my husband and I could go away (our birthday/Christmas/Valentines Day gifts to each other). When we got back on Sunday night, her flight for Monday morning had been canceled due to the horrible storm that hit Texas! So she rebooked and we enjoyed having her here. We went shopping and just hung out at the house because it was too cold to do anything outside. Then Wednesday (the 17th), I took C to a doctor’s appointment and left D with Grandma. On my way, she got notified her flight for Thursday had been canceled. So she rebooked for Sunday! Woke up Sunday and the weather here was too bad for her to fly! So my mom’s short 6 day trip turned into a 13 day trip! So needless to say, we didn’t get much done in the last two weeks. This week we got back into school work full force!
Monday
Well sorta got back into full force, because today we spent the day taking Grandma to the airport. After we dropped her off, we went to Chick fil a and ate lunch INSIDE!!! It was so much fun. The playground is still closed, but C was super happy because she loves eating inside restaurants. We got home and everyone took a nap!
Tuesday

Today we really started school. We started the day by working on some sequencing. I found some BOOM cards online from Totschooling.net where she had to line up cards of a nursery rhyme in order. She did great and is learning how to use the computer which is also nice. C also worked on learning time to the hours. We made a snowman clock from The STEM Laboratory. C loved building her own clock. She did not do the numbers in order which was fine but took a bit longer to make sure we got them all in the right spot. D worked on the color orange. We are just starting the color orange (find all my color activities for toddlers here) so we just colored and painted a picture today. It also was so nice out that we went outside for about an hour and took the dog for a walk and then played at our house for a bit. We finished the day by watching our Bible story on the Paralyzed Man being healed by Jesus.
Wednesday

Today we did more time tot he hour with C. She put together some time puzzles found at Proud to be Primary. She had a blast with these. I let her pick a clock to start with and then I made that time on our big Judy Clock that my mom so nicely bought for us last week. She then told me what the time was and found the other two pieces (the time written out aka 1 O’Clock and the digital time). She loved this and by the end she was setting the Judy Clock on her own. After school work was all done, we went to the park and played in the snow a bit. The kids loved digging in the snow with there sand toys.
Thursday
Today we took a break from school and went to the zoo with some friends. We had so much fun that I didn’t take any pictures of the kids!
Friday

Today we started the day with some tablet time. I got C a new Amazon Fire Kids tablet last week so that D could have her old one. He was getting upset that she would do tablet time with out him so we just got another one. C played lots of games on hers while D stuck to his “truck” game. It is a Lego game that he can do different learning activities on. One of the games is to match colors with the Legos. I love this game because it doesn’t let them do it wrong, but it doesn’t make a big deal out of wrong answers. The character just takes the lego and puts it back until he gets it right. So he keeps experimenting until he moves onto the next level. He loves it! We did some errands this morning because my car needed a wash after all the snow we have had and we needed to turn in library books because I had forgotten about them when my mom was here. So this afternoon we will try and do some school work by finishing up our time activities and doing some handwriting and our bible story worksheet.
I hope you have a great weekend, we are going to try and spend as much time outside as we can!
