This week we did a bit of catching up as well as moving ahead through our curriculum. C is doing a great job with her handwriting (cursive) and is actually reciting memory verses. This week D also caught up on what we didn’t do last week because he doesn’t always cooperate. We also started a lot of new classes and activities this week, our school year is in full swing.
Sunday
We went back to church and we had nursery and Sunday School for the first time! D cried the entire time he was in nursery. He has to get used to being away from Mommy. C had a great time in Sunday School. Our church would have promoted during the pandemic so this was her first week in a real Sunday School class. She had a blast. She would not give us too many details, but she loved it! We kinda had a chill day. After rest time/nap time we pulled out the pool. We didn’t have small group, so we were able to enjoy the afternoon outside.
Monday
Today, we had a normal day because Daddy went to work. He was supposed to have off Labor Day, but because of Covid they changed their schedule and took away Labor Day so they could finish the semester by Thanksgiving. I let D have some diaper free time in the morning as we are sorta starting potty training (Mommy needs inspiration to get it together). C did a little bit of handwriting in the morning as well art projects. One art project she worked on was making stars in the night sky to represent God’s Promise to Abraham. I am pretty sure we did this last year, but she doesn’t remember so we did it again!
After naps, we went outside because it had stopped raining for a bit. They were able to play in the rocks, C rode her balance bike and D pushed the baby stroller (his new favorite toy). We then came in and made dinner.
Tuesday
Today, C learned a new letter, A. We learned the phonics sentence as well as how to write it. She was very quick in completely all her work today (so quick I didn’t get any pictures). After rest time, C played a game where we sorted out vegetables and fruits. We first sorted by type and then by color. After we sorted for a bit, we stamp painted with vegetables. I had an onion that was going bad that she stamped with and some potatoes (that I didn’t mean to buy). She loved it. She found lots of “tracks” in the paint that were made by the vegetables.
Wednesday
Today we had a playdate in the morning. We love having our friends over. The kids all played really nicely together. We ordered pizza and let the kids have an indoor picnic because it was raining (still).
After naps, we had a super quick snack and ran to the post office to mail a letter. We got back and played in rain for a while. Then we had to get inside and have dinner quickly. C and I went to our kids program at church, Lighthouse Kids. This is our kids ministry night. C was in the youngest group (pretty sure she was the youngest there) and Iw as with the 1st through 3rd grade girls. It was great to hang out with these girls for a while and see their hearts. C was soo tired when we left. This will be a special night each week for the both of us to go together.
Thursday
Today started out very grouchy. So after my first cup of coffee, I was already tired of yelling and getting on the kids that we went for a walk in the mist and then played outside for a few minutes. We came back in and I grabbed a second cup of coffee and we got to work. D was very cooperative today and did his matching game. He did great (until he started to eat the pom poms)! We are still working on the color red with him. C did all her work with very little redirecting. While D napped, we worked more on our Wisdom Wonder Project by building with blocks. My review will be ready in two weeks for this curriculum. C also had her first ballet class! She had a blast! She only told me that they played with ribbons and danced to a Trolls song.
Friday
We kinda had an easy day with school work because we had worked ahead this week some. We spent some time working with coins. C loves money and coins, so we are learning the different aspects and values of each coin. We are super excited that My Teaching Library has some great coin activities that we get to use. I will have a review of My Teaching Library in three weeks. After lunch, C took an outschool class. It was super fun. I am pretty sure we are going to take another one from this same teacher soon. The teacher also happens to be a graduate of my alum mater, Meredith College!
Saturday
Today, Mommy had to run an errand in the morning, so D got to go with Mommy to the craft store, while C stayed home with Daddy. When we got back home, we all went outside for some good old fashioned fun! After rest/nap time, the kids both painted. D finished his red wagon while C painted with string. We tested out different types of string to see what made the best brushes. After she painted, we experimented with dry chalk vs. wet chalk.
Our week flew by and we had a lot of fun despite the rain almost everyday. We are ready to get back outside this week in the sunshine! Can’t wait to share more with y’all next weekend!
Sounds like a great week! Zeke also had to get used to staying in the nursery again, but he does great now. We have the same nursery worker each Sunday, which helps, and she just loves Zeke to pieces. He is the only baby in there right now since the other kids moved up to the preschool class!
