This week we talked about cars so we created our own car wash out of recycled materials. We used a few pictures online to figure out how we wanted to make our car wash. We decided to fold the tops of a tissue box down to make the outside of the car wash.

We started by cutting the brown paper to make the entry way. C cut it herself. I use learning scissors with her and she does a great job cutting on her own. The scissors open on their own which helps because her hand strength to open them on her own is not quite there yet.

We then taped 2 pieces of yellow paper around the top of the tissue box. I had her help me tape the brown paper onto the front of the box. We then made the mounted washers for the exit of the car wash. She cut the red pieces of paper to make the “padding” that spins.

We taped these parts to popsicle sticks. This was some what hard because I wanted them to stand out so it took some “interpretive” taping to make it work! We then just propped them in the car wash because it was hard to glue down.

C then traced the words Car Wash on the front of the yellow part to make the sign. She was super proud of herself.

I then let her at it to play. She used a few different cars that would fit in the small car wash. She loved it and still plays with it a week later. It was a great way to show her she could make her own toys.
