We love some simple projects at our house and here is a simple giraffe project idea for your littles. It is a great project because it incorporates colors, shapes, and fine motor skills. It also uses supplies you already have at your house. This is always a big plus for me because I forget to the right supplies from the store when I need them so my children are either disappointed in not getting to do something or we have to make a “quick” trip to the store.

Supplies:

Directions:

Precut all the shapes, you could load these up into your cutting machine if you want to make it easier. If you have an older child, they can practice cutting out the shapes for you. You can also have your child identify the colors and the shapes and even guess what we were making!

First add the nose of the giraffe to the head. Then, add the ears and horns-you may need to help to make sure they are on the back on the head.

Next, add the cereal. This is a great fine motor skills practice as they place them around the head. Even a young toddler can do this part! Remember it is their project and it will be cute no matter what it looks like!

After the cereal is done, add the eyes and the tops of the horns. The pom moms required a lot of glue.

Finally, draw the lines on the nose for the final project! I used a permanent marker because I knew it wouldn’t have as much problems on wet glue since we just finished with all the glue, but if you wanted to allow your child to do the lines you can use regular markers once it dries.
