This week we learned the letter A with a focus on alligators, apples, ants, astronauts, and Africa.
Monday
We had a shortened week this week because of D having a tongue tie procedure. We did two days worth of activities on Monday. We started by reviewing the letter A. We did the animals last year so C is just reviewing the letters this year. We sung the song and I wrote the letters on the chalkboard and let her trace them. We made our alligator finger puppet from Abeka.
We learned about apples, we played an apple counting game that I had from co-op class and we painted with apples. The apple counting game can be found here at Fromabcstoacts.com. C loved rolling the dice and counting out the beans. We just made an apple with a lot of seeds. I had my co-op kids count the total we put on the apple, but for C, I just had her add beans or seeds to the apple.
We then stamped with apples. We had three apples that were not good to eat anymore, but not extremely squishy so I let her stamp with them. She picked out the colors and the paper we painted on. She loved it so much she wanted to do more, so we have two apple stamping pages. We also learned the number 1 with our worksheet from Numbers and Sounds with Button Bear. She counted the apple and colored the apple red.

Tuesday
Tuesday we learned about Ants and Astronauts. We started with ants. We talked about the different body parts of the ant as well as the different jobs each ant has in the colony. We also glued green pieces of paper to make As on our worksheet. We then talked about astronauts. We made a name rocket. I cut out a triangle for the top of her rocket and squares for each of her letters. We then glued them together to spell out her name. C is very good at spelling her name, but anytime I can reinforce it the better. She did great and loved adding the fire at the end of her rocket.
Thursday
We had to skip Wednesday because D had his tongue tie and lip tie procedure. He did great, but just wanted to be held when we got home. Thursday we finished our week by learning about Africa. We played a game where I wrote numbers and letters behind animals that were taped to the chalk board. She picked an animal and “discovered” the letter or number behind the animal. She loved this and continue to play on her own later in the day. We also reviewed the letter A again by adding beans to our letter worksheet. You can read more about our Africa day here.
