This week, we explored Africa activities for preschool, bringing a new experience to our learning! Instead of our usual craft projects focused on language development, we dove into a variety of unique activities related to Africa.
Our first activity was playing a learning game. I printed out different pictures of African animals and taped them to our chalkboard, with letters and numbers hidden behind each animal. C loved discovering the different numbers and letters and worked on identifying all the animals as well. We repeated the game at least three times, and she thought it was “so fun!” Later, she even played independently, practicing her letters and numbers while engaging with the animals. It was a wonderful mix of learning and play!

We also explored some Africa preschool activities by looking at different webcams in Africa on explore.org. This has quickly become one of our new favorite things to do because we can see animals from all over the world live, without leaving home. We watched the camera at the Nkorho Bush Lodge, starting with giraffes in the trees. Then, the camera zoomed out to reveal a parade of elephants drinking and cleaning in the watering hole. We hadn’t been able to capture live feeds of African animals until this day, so it worked out perfectly!
We also found some amazing pattern block pictures from Life over C’s. C loved making all the different animals. Her favorite one was the gorilla. The pattern blocks are zoo animals, but they worked perfect for us as the animals were also found in Africa. You can find some great pattern blocks here on Amazon.
