This week we learned the letter S. We focused our learning on seals, seasons, and senses.

S is for Seal

This week we were introduced to S is for seals. We learned that seals live in the Arctic and we looked at where this was on the map. We also learned that there is a layer of fat under seal’s skin. C did a great job tracing the letters on the chalk board too. We also made our own S is for Seal craft. Check out the products below so that you can make your own crafts!

Seasons

This week we learned all about seasons. We learned first about spring and fall and then summer and winter. I found a gluing activity from totschooling.net that we used as our basis for learning about seasons. We talked about each picture and in which season we would find that picture. We talked about how we were looking forward to summer so we could go swimming!! These pattern block activities also could provide a hands on experience creating different items from each season.

Senses

This week we also l earned about our five senses. We used food to explain the different senses by listening, feeling, looking, and smelling a banana and chocolate chips. We then tasted all of them! We talked about which one was our favorite (C’s favorite was chocolate chips).

We also did another gluing activity from TheStemLaboratory where C had to figure out which pictures went with which sense. She loved this, but had a few issues because there were a lot of pictures. I started to give her only a few at a time. This helped a ton. She loves to glue so this was a great hands on activity for her.
