This week we learned about the letter T with a focus on tigers, table manners, telephone, and transportation.
T is for Tiger
This week we learned about the letter T and made a Timmy Tiger visor from Abeka.com. She wanted to paint, so instead of using felt, I let her paint the strips on her tiger. She loved this. We also traced the letters on our chalkboard. She is now able to pretty much write her letters on her own. I might have to show her a letter here or there, but for the most part she is writing on her own. We also made our T is for Tiger Craft. I love the way she glued her tiger together. Table Manners
We have already done some table manners, but we did this again during lunch. I had her practice sitting nicely at the table. I would read her a part of the table manners list and she would do it. Kinda funny because she was just sitting there and then I said elbows off the table and she took her elbows off. She tried her hardest to do all of the table manners during lunch.
Telephone
Today we talked about the telephone. I showed her pictures of phones from the past and she did not think they were telephones. She only knows about cellphones because we have never had a land line since she was born. She can operate my phone with ease and probably better than me!
Transportation
We talked about all different types of transportation. We looked at a map where I showed her were we live and we picked other places around the world to “travel” to. I had her list different ways we could “travel” to these places. She loved trying to think of different ways to travel.
We also did an art project with cars. I have done this before with preschoolers, but this time we had a twist. I used a huge piece of cardboard and propped it up to make a track. I then put paper down the track. She took each small car and ran it through some paint on a paper plate. She then pushed them down the track. She had a blast. We tried to mess with where we placed the cars to see if we could get paint in certain spots on the track. This was a great STEM and art project.
