This week in preschool we learned about letter H. We focused on our healthy bodies, houses, horses, and humming birds.
H is for Horse
We read about H is for Horse and C traced the letters on her chalkboard which she is getting really good at. I am already looking forward to teaching cursive next year because she is doing so well at manuscript. We made our H is for horse craft (GRAB YOUR TEMPLATE HERE). Yes the ear on the H is for Horse craft is on the other part of the horse…I tried, but well a 3 year old was in charge. We also made a rocking horse craft from Abeka.
We also took the opportunity to ride our horse around the room. She loves her wooden stick horse so any chance to incorporate it into our lessons is appreciated. It was also snowing the day we started the letter H so we brought some snow into the house to play with it. C loved this and even D got in on the action. She was very upset the next morning when it had melted.
Healthy Bodies
The next two days we focused on our Healthy Bodies. We first talked about healthy foods and how we need to eat “the rainbow.” We did a cute craft where we cut out pictures from sale fliers and sorted them by color. We then glued them down to make a rainbow.
Next we talked about doctors and dentists and how to keep ourselves healthy. We pretended to be a doctor and did a paint activity to remind ourselves to sneeze and cough into our elbows not our hands so we don’t spread germs. This activity can be found at Pocket of Preschool. C had a blast blowing the paint around the hand. I don’t know if she really understand the concept, but it was a start. She practiced connecting the dots as well as writing her Hs with her worksheets.
House
We learned about houses. We made our own shape house. C was super excited because she got to use a glue stick (the joys of being 3)! Her house turned out really good. She wanted to add smoke out of the chimney but ran out room so the smoke is on top of the house. It works!
Hummingbird
We learned about Hummingbirds as well this week. We made our own hummingbird with C’s footprint and handprint. This craft took a few days since we had to let it dry between parts.
