A few weeks ago, I received a new book to read and review: The Hidden Message of the Great Seal: How Foundational Truths from The Dawn of Liberty May Rescue a Republic in Peril by Michael Kanis from The Hidden Message, LLC. This book unfolds the historical and religious background to the United States Seal.
Overall Thoughts
The book is wider than the average book and is 260 pages long making it read more like a textbook, albeit way more interesting than a normal textbook.
The book starts by introducing the seal and the history behind the seal. It then transitions to the important men that influenced parts of the seal and then the different aspects of the seal. It ends with the different designs of the seal and how it evolved over the years.

What I loved
I learned a lot not only about the seal, but about the Revolutionary War time period. This is why I wanted to read this book. I am very interested in history and all the complexities that come from history. I love that history is so connected. One event back in the 1500s can influence leaders and events for centuries.
I also really enjoyed the fact that The Gospel was interwoven throughout the book. Every chapter referenced the Bible and how it influenced the seal and the Founding Fathers. This is especially important because there are many different conspiracy theories around this time period that can easily lead one astray from The Gospel.
Future Use
I believe this book will best serve my family once my children are older. My idea is that closer to the first presidential election my daughter can vote, (2032), I will have her read this book to not only understand the seal, but what the Founding Fathers truly believed and how that can help our country now.
I want to leave you with this quote:
What amazing things we could accomplish for our nation and as a nation for the world if we were to be unified. We will never unify around methods; there are always multiple ways to do anything. But we can unify around our shared values. Values supersede politics, religion, ethnicity, geography, or industry. They are in fact what defines us as American.
