This week in preschool we learned about the letter K. We also learned about the number 8, as well as Kindness, Kitchen Safety, Koalas, and Kindergarten. We also read our bible stories of Jesus Walks on Water and Blind Barimeous.
Letter K
C learned how to write the letter K as well as the sound it makes. We discussed that it sounded a lot like the letter C in her name. We also made a K is for Kangaroo craft. You can get your own copy of our cut outs here! Let me see your child’s K is for Kangaroo craft!
Kindness
We talked about what it means to be kind. We practiced being kind to mommy and daddy as well as to baby D. This lesson was mainly a talking lesson, but we also read some books on kindness. Here are a few:
Kitchen Safety
We also talked about kitchen safety. This is a big one in our house because C loves to help me in the kitchen. We talked about how we don’t use sharp knives by ourselves and how we stir gently and pay attention in the kitchen.
Koalas
We learned about Koalas and how they were animals that God had created. We learned that Koalas carry their babies in a pocket just like kangaroos do! We also found out that Koalas mainly eat eucalyptus leaves. We cut out some eucalyptus leaves and fed them to the Koala. C had to count the holes in the leaves to find the correct leaf to feed the Koala.
Kindergarten
We talked what kindergarten was and that many boys and girls go to kindergarten. I told C that we will be doing kindergarten at home unlike many children. We talked about what we might take to kindergarten if she did go to a big school. It helps that we go to co-op once a week so she sort of understands what school is about.
Bible stories
We watched and read our bible story about Jesus walking on water. We read this in our Easter Storybook, read my review here. We talked about if we can walk on water on our own. We talked about that with God all things are possible. We also read about Blind Bartimeous and that Jesus can do anything. We learned that he could heal the blind or make people walk again. We love hearing stories about Jesus and what he can do for us!

I like the idea to punch holes in the leaves and have her count them. This is such a fun age, isn’t it? My youngest in 16 months old, and my next youngest is 7 years old! I’m excited to do preschool again, but I have a few years!
