This year we starting full time homeschooling. We were doing part time homeschooling before we moved because I was working two days a week. I have enjoyed full time homeschooling much more than part time because we have time for more “fun” stuff. We now do field trips, library days, play dates and co-op. I will give you a small peek into our homeschool days!
Homeschool Space
We now have a whole alcove dedicated to homeschooling in our basement. This is a huge improvement over our last place where we had a work table in the living room.
We have an art easel that we are using as our chalk board right now. This is one of my favorite homeschool purchases that we have made so far. It adjusts to C’s height so it will grow with her. It has a chalk board on one side and a white board on the other. The white board is also magnetic so she can put all the magnets she wants to one it and she loves her magnets. Here is C using the chalk board in on of our acvities.
My other favorite purchase for the homeschool area is her little work table. It has four chairs so when D gets older and joins us there will be room for him. Right now we have it sitting against the wall to save some space, but we could move it out if necessary. The one we have is plastic so clean up is super easy. I looked and looked for a table a couple of years ago and happened upon this one and thought it looked too flimsy and may only last a year. Boy was I wrong!! It has been through so much and is still going strong. We get paint on it and it just wipes off with a baby wipe or a normal household cleaner. Here is C working on one of her projects on the table.
One more thing that I absolutely love about our space is our art work display. I hung a string across the wall and we use clothes pins to display her work during the week. She loves going back and looking at her work and telling Daddy all about it later.
Schedule
I have to have a schedule to follow which helps us stay on track.
Homeschooling is all about being flexible (and lots of coffee) especially with a toddler and a baby. I have a basic schedule that we use every week and then I fill in my planner with the different activities. Click below for your own copy.
so glad to find a fellow “feet first” jumper using Abeka! We are kitchen table homeschoolers right now. My little is my only child and turned 3 in November.
