So as you know we have been behind on our homeschool due to some crazy things that have happened at our house. After about 3 weeks of having our house torn apart from a water leak, we have a clean and put back together house. Between working, our house being torn up, doctors appointments for D, and just being tired from being pregnant we did a short catch up weekend (and 2 week days). We started on Saturday so daddy was able to help. He doesn’t like to be as messy as mommy just as a FYI!
We started with Biblestories. We watched Jesus Walks on Water as well as The Good Samaritan. I found a cute snack to show Jesus and Peter walking on water on Ministry 2 Kids using Teddy Grahams, Graham crackers, and blue frosting. I ended up buying blue funfetti frosting with fish sprinkles, which worked out perfectly. I could not find a good activity for the Good Samaritan that wasn’t too hard for a 2 year old, so I made one for her. Read about it here (you can grab your own copy here too)!
We also reviewed squares. She used legos to stamp squares on a paper. She did really well using two different legos to make a picture. She really just stamped the legos, which is an improvement from a while ago, where she would have used the legos as a paint brush. We also reviewed triangles. I used painters tape on construction paper to make three triangles. She used a paint brush to paint around them. Once I pulled off the tape, she could see the triangles.
We reviewed the colors green and blue. We previously reviewed red and yellow as well so we finished that review by making a stop light. She finger painted red, yellow, and green on paper. We let it dry for a few days and then we put it on a cut out of a stop light. She loved glueing her stoplight together. We also reviewed the color green and blue by using our Kumon My Book of Coloring.
We were not that far behind on numbers so we just had the number 4 worksheet. She was able to trace the big number and then had help making the little numbers.
The last part of our catch up weekend was learning the letters P and Q. She did a combined sensory bin and matched the pictures. We also made a penguin for P and a quail for Q. C added the cotton balls, eyes and nose to the penguin. She added all the parts to the Quail.
