We have been extremely blessed for the last month to be able to access the Download Club from My Teaching Library which added a large variety of materials into our daily life. We have been using these resources in all different parts of our lives.

Variety of Activities

One of the best things about My Teaching Library is that there is a large library (for a lack of a better word) of activities for your child. We first used the activities for coloring during church. Our church went back to meeting after shutting down due to COVID 19, but did not open up children’s classes, so I printed off some coloring pages for C to color during the sermon. She did great and it kept her occupied so we could pay attention to the sermon. These are from the Community Helpers- Volume 3 pack.

We also used some games from My Teaching Library. One game we used was the Rhyming Word Picture Flash Cards and we made it into a matching game. We also found a game where you match pictures, but one set you need to use a magnifying glass (we used an app on my phone).

We also practiced finding rhyming words with another set of worksheets. C needed a lot of practice with this skill and the amount of activities I found on My Teaching Library was a perfect fit. We will definitely keep using these activities as we move throughout the year.

Another amazing part of this program was that I was able to find activities for D to use as well. We have been learning the color Red for the month. I was able to print him off a few coloring pages for extra coloring. This was so nice.

The activities we used the most were the Morning Work for Kindergarten worksheets. I printed these out for C to work on everyday. I will say they are more for a PreK level than Kindergarten unless your Kindergartener knows no letters or numbers. I like this set because it will “teach” 3 new letters and 3 numbers at a time. After the child does those letters and numbers there is a couple of days of review before new concepts are introduced. This is why it is a perfect morning work. We actually didn’t do it all the time in the morning, but it was still daily and sometimes she wanted to do two or three a day.

Overall Thoughts

I have really enjoyed My Teaching Library as a supplement to our curriculum. It has added a ton to our weeks. I am continually looking for new activities to add to our routine. The website does take a bit of learning though. When you go to the home page you can see their activities organized by grade, subject, miscellaneous, and newest resources. Each grade bracket is then broken into subjects. This is good if you don’t really know what you are looking for. I used this the most because I was doing a general search for activities. In the top corner, there is a search feature which is nice if you are looking for a specific item (at one point I looked for coins so I used that feature). This is all pretty easy.

What was confusing was that with the Download Club you can get anything (great right), but I accidentally downloaded multiple activities multiple times. Once I downloaded something though, I couldn’t find it! I didn’t read that I needed to go to My Account and then Downloads to get all my products. Once I figured this out, I had no more issues. I do not think this would be a problem if you were buying one activity at a time, but the unlimited downloads was amazing and worth it for my family!

Another issue I ran into, which is not a common issue, is that my printer read the pdfs weirdly. I have a very old printer (over 15 years old) and sometimes it reads pdfs and prints a black square around some pictures. I had this issue the most with the Morning Work for Kindergarten packet. I ended up having to do a screenshot of the worksheet and then print that out. This is a common problem I have with pdfs I buy and if you have this issue too just beware to test the worksheets before printing a ton off.

In my opinion, this is a great resource for all teachers and especially homeschool teachers. The Download Club is a great resource to add to your homeschool for any age because it would provide resources for all your children and any subject they wanted (or needed) to learn about.
