Unit Four of Teaching the Bible (a 12 month complete Bible curriculum with hands on activities for toddlers and preschoolers) teaches children all about Obeying God with the stories of Naaman, Queen Esther, Shadrach and Meshach and Abendnego, Daniel and the Lion’s Den, and Jonah. Little ones will know by the end that they can listen to God and obey Him on their own.
Lessons Overview
There are 5 lessons with hands on preschool or toddler activities in this Obeying God unit: Naaman, Queen Esther, Shadrach and Meshach and Abendnego, Daniel and the Lion’s Den, and Jonah. Each lesson has 6 hands-on activities for little ones based on the length of days the lesson should cover. There are also two memory verses for little ones to learn during the unit. Each memory verse has motions and a poster to help in memorizing the verses.

Lesson 1: Naaman
This first lesson on Naaman should last about a week depending on the activities you choose for your little one. The goal of this lesson is for your little one to know that We Can Obey God. This lesson focuses mainly on Naaman listening to God and dipping in the Jordan River 7 times to be cured of Leprosy. Your little one will also memorize this verse:
“If you love me, you will obey what I command.”

One of my favorite preschool or toddler activities from this lesson is the Leprosy cookies. My kids loved making these. We just made a simple chocolate chip cookie bar recipe and added some chocolate chips on top. They loved eating the people we cut out. You can click below to buy lesson 1 only!
Lesson 2: Queen Esther
This is the second lesson in the unit and is about Queen Esther. It focuses on her sticking up for the Jewish people with the king. The goal is for your child to know that they can Obey God. Your little one will continue to work on the same memory verse as the first lesson.
One of my favorite activities from this lesson is the paper plate crown. This is a different way to make a crown and it is super simple for everyone to make. Your child can make it as decorative as they would like it. This is a great art project because you can set it up and then let them create. You can use this as an activity so that you can work with another child or you can use it as a bonding time with your child. You can click below to buy lesson 2 only.
Lesson 3: Shadrach and Meshach and Abendnego
This is the third lesson in the unit and is about Shadrach and Meshach and Abendnego in the fiery furnace. This lesson talks about the three men not bowing down to the idols as well as what happens when they were thrown into the furnace. The goal is for your child to know that they can Obey God. Your little one will learn a new memory verse starting with this lesson.

One of my favorite activities from this lesson is the tissue paper art project. This is a great process art project for littles. You or your child will draw the three characters as well as an angel on a piece of paper. They will then cover the drawings with tissue paper. They can do this as they want. Lesson 4: Daniel and the Lion’s Den
This is the fourth lesson in the unit and is about Daniel in the Lion’s Den. It focuses on Daniel praying even though it was against the law and being put in the lion’s den. The goal is for your child to know that they can Obey God. Your little one will continue to work on the same memory verse as the third lesson.
One of my favorite activities from this lesson is the What is Extra? activity. This activity is great because it requires children to hone their memory skills. It is also a super easy activity to setup and uses items all around you. A great way to make it harder for older children is to have them write out the extra items. Or you can make a check list for them to find certain items out of a large amount. This can also help it not be boring if you play multiple times. You can click below to buy lesson 4 only.
Lesson 5: Jonah
This is the fifth lesson in the unit and is about Jonah. It follows the story from Jonah hearing from God at first to him landing in the fish’s belly all the way to going to Nineveh to tell them what God had to say. The goal is for your child to know that they can Obey God. Your little one will continue to work on the same memory verse as the third and fourth lesson.
One of my favorite activities from this lesson is the Rainbow Whale activity. This activity is great activity because it is a clean process art activity that even little ones who normally eat art supplies can do.
