The Teaching the Bible: Jesus is Baptized Lesson is a great bible lesson for your preschooler or toddler on how John the Baptist baptized Jesus in the Jordan River. This lesson uses the story found in Matthew 3, you can read to your child from Biblegateway! As a homeschool material, it can last a week with a hands-on activity each day. Or it can last a week in a Sunday school classroom by doing a few of the activities. The goal for this lesson is that the little ones would know that we can have faith in Jesus!
Along with the hands-on activities your child will memorize this verse:
“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for, being convinced of what we do not see.”
Hebrews 11:1

One of my kids favorite activities was the feet painting. They loved watching their foot prints show up on the paper. They also loved slipping and sliding around on the paper. We spent most of the morning finding new colors to mix to paint with our feet.
Another one of my favorite activities is the water sensory bin and the sink or float water activity. Water activities are always a hit in my house! I love the way that these activities teaching Jesus being baptized in the Jordan can be adapted for your toddler or preschooler or even an older sibling. Younger learners can just play in the water while parents talk over their play reinforcing the story and concepts. Older learners can act out the story for younger siblings or even learn about predictions and experiments while reinforcing the story concepts as well. This is why this curriculum can work for families because the siblings can all do the activities at the same time with some slight changes to fit each child.
