This week we reviewed our letters using the theme of Children Around the World. We learned about the children of Africa, Japan, Mexico, Isreal, and The Netherlands. We also learned the number 11 and talked about the Bible story Zacchaeus.
Africa
We started the week talking about Africa. This was a review as we had discussed Africa at the very beginning of the year. You can check out our spotlight on Africa here. This time we did also make some African jewelry that was inspired by the craft found at OFamily Learning Together. We made a bracket though because I only could find small paper plates. I showed C the examples from the site and we discussed that all the jewelry was very bright colors and bold shapes. Then she designed her own.

Japan
The next country we talked about was Japan. We had already talked about Japan before so this was also review. We counted cherry blossoms on our worksheet and designed our own Kimono. You can find that Kimono at SuzanneBroadhurst.com

Mexico
From BooksaMillion.com
This was probably my favorite day of the week. We talked about the children of Mexico and all the fun things they like to do in Mexico. We talked about pinatas and fiestas. But my favorite thing we did was did a Zoom call with my friend. She was born in Mexico and lived there on and off throughout her life. My friend speaks fluent Spanish and makes fun of the way I try to speak Spanish. She read a story to C during our Zoom call in Spanish. We read a few traditional stories that C would know the storyline, but they were all in Spanish. It was so much fun! We also had quesadillas for lunch because it was a good excuse to have them! They are so good and C loves to dip hers in sour cream!
Israel
This week we also reviewed Israel and how people lived when Jesus was walking on Earth. We talked about the differences in the clothes they wore and what we wear as well as different activities they did that we don’t do. We also talked about similarities between us and them. This was mainly a discussion lesson.
The Netherlands

Our last country we talked about was The Netherlands. This was a new country for us so it was fun to discover new concepts. C’s favorite activity from his day was learning how to draw a tulip. She had a blast drawing them over and over again. We also painted tulips with a fork. I found this idea at Growing Up Gabel. C loved doing this and wanted to just keep making more and more tulips.
Bible Story
This week we started the Easter story by reading about Zacchaeus. We read about it in The Easter Storybook as well as watched it on Youtube. Check out my review on The Easter Storybook.
