This week we learned about Canada. We were talking about the letter C and one of our language development spotlights was on Canada.
We started the day by playing a learning game. I printed out red maple leaves and wrote capital and lower case letters that we had learned already on them. I taped them to a tree that was drawn onto the chalkboard. C had to match the uppercase and the lowercase letters. She did a great job!
We talked about the fact that many in Canada speak French. We watched Rock and Learn’s Learn French for Kids- Numbers, Colors and More found here. As I was looking just for colors, we fast forwarded to the numbers and colors. C loved the interaction during the video as well as the silly dances.
After we talked about French colors, we did a color by shape in French. I speak a little French (took some in high school and college) so it wasn’t too hard to remember how to pronounce each color. She did a great job coloring the pages. The color page can be found at Maternelle Avec Mme Andrea. She loved this.
We also made a Canadian flag with small pieces of paper. We glued the red and the white pieces of paper down to complete the flag. She loved this because she was able to do it all by herself.
