In this Christmas Bible lesson, toddler and preschool aged children will learn all about Jesus being born through hands-on activities. This lesson is to last the week leading up to Christmas or to be done at church the week of Christmas. The goal of this lesson is for your child to know that Jesus is Born! In this lesson, you will read or watch as much of the Christmas story from Jesus being born to the angels appearing to the shepherds and the wise men as well as them visiting Jesus. There are 6 activities for you and your child to interact as you process the story.
The children will learn a new memory verse:
“Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you. He is the Messiah, the Lord.” Luke 2:11 (NIRV)
Variety of Activities
There are so many great activities in this Christmas Bible lesson for your preschool or toddler child to fully grasp the story, but one of my favorites is the shape nativity. Your child will get different shapes to make their own nativities. This is a fun project because it doesn’t matter if they were perfect or not because each child will put their own flare into it and it is a great way to discuss the different characters in the story.
Another great activity is a Jesus is Born sensory bin and is perfect for the preschool and toddler years because they can manipulate it how ever they want while still learning. You add your nativity figurines, my favorite are the Little People ones, into a sensory bin filled with any filler. Your child can just play with the different parts of the sensory bin while you talk about the different figurines. This will lead to a lot of different conversations for your little one to learn more about Jesus being born!
