This week in preschool we reviewed everything from the year under the theme of zoo. We reviewed the whole alphabet and numbers 0-15. We also reviewed different animals and had fun with some field trips (both virtual and live).

Zoo Trips

This week we did a few different types of zoo trips. We first used our Zoo posters from Abeka.com to show our Barbies around look at the different animals. C had a blast showing Barbie the different animals and describing the animals to the Barbie.

We then did a bunch of virtual zoo trips. Head over to The Organized Homeschooler for a complete list of virtual zoo field trips. C loved the giraffe cams. That is what she asked for every time I pulled up the virtual field trips. These field trips were our only zoo experiences for a few weeks due to the COVID19 restrictions.

We also were finally able to visit the zoo with our friends and I wanted to share the trip with you. We were only able to see animals outside, but C had a blast. I can’t wait until we can visit again!

Crafts

We made some very cute animal crafts from A Mom’s Quest to Teach. We first made an echidna. C loved this craft because she got to glue a ton on it. I think the echidna is a super cute animal that eats ants and termites. I was excited to learn more about this little animal.

We also made the coffee filter koala bears from A Mom’s Quest to Teach. It was interesting to read about the koala, which by the way is not a bear! I let D participate in this activity as well. He loved being able to color with markers and of course try to eat the marker!

Alphabet Activities

We finished up all our letter friend crafts. I let D do a few crafts as well. I reviewed all the pictures with C to have her remember all the letters and their sounds. Get your digital and physical kits below.

We also started really working on beginning sounds using a sheet from In All You Do. In the pack, there is a worksheet where C could glue on the beginning sounds of the different animals. She did a great job with this sheet!

Number Activities

We also practiced counting by playing a graphing game from In All You Do. C had fun with this and not only was she learning new graphing skills, but at the end we counted up the different columns and talked about more and less. These are new concepts that I am starting to introduce her to. We also did the number puzzles from The Stem Laboratory where C matched up the numbers with the pictures of the correct number of animals and pictures of the correct number of fingers.

Super Teacher Worksheets

We also did a variety of worksheets and activities from Super Teacher Worksheets. We did a letter Z book about Zack at the zoo. She loved coloring the different pictures. I had her identify the pictures on each page. We built words by cutting and glueing. She also sorted farm and zoo animals. You can read my full review of Super Teacher Worksheets here!
